Samantha Ruth Prabhu

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is an Indian actress and producer who works predominantly in Telugu and Tamil cinema alongside Hindi streaming projects. Born on April 28, 1987, in Madras (present-day Chennai), Tamil Nadu, to a Telugu father and a Malayali mother, she completed her schooling at Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School and earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Stella Maris College, Chennai. While modeling part-time during college, she caught the attention of filmmakers and made her acting debut in Gautham Vasudev Menon's acclaimed romantic drama *Ye Maaya Chesave* (2010), earning widespread acclaim, the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South, and a Nandi Special Jury Award. She rapidly rose to the top tier of South Indian cinema, achieving historic critical and commercial success. In 2012, she became only the second actress in history (after Revathi) to win both the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Tamil (*Neethaane En Ponvasantham*) and Best Actress – Telugu (*Eega*) in the same calendar year. She went on to headline a string of major industry blockbusters and content-driven dramas, including *Dookudu* (2011), *Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu* (2013), *Attarintiki Daredi* (2013), *Kaththi* (2014), *Manam* (2014), *Theri* (2016), *24* (2016), *A Aa* (2016), *Mersal* (2017), *Rangasthalam* (2018), *Mahanati* (2018), *Super Deluxe* (2019), *Majili* (2019), and *Oh! Baby* (2019). Samantha gained extensive pan-Indian and global recognition for her turn as Raji in Amazon Prime Video's spy thriller series *The Family Man* (Season 2, 2021) which earned her a Filmfare OTT Award and headlined female-led thrillers such as *Yashoda* (2022) and the romantic drama *Kushi* (2023). Her filmography extends to starring in the global spy franchise series *Citadel: Honey Bunny* (2024), *Subham* (2025), and headlining as well as producing under her banner Tralala Moving Pictures with *Maa Inti Bangaaram* (2026). A recipient of four Filmfare Awards South, two Nandi Awards, and six SIIMA Awards, she is also the founder of the NGO Pratyusha Support and the women's apparel brand Saaki.
